Portugese Publisher and lovely lunches!

My novel ‘One Kiss in Havana’ will be available in Portugese this summer and the lovely publishers Quinta Essencia took myself and some of Ireland’s finest authors out to lunch recently.

I have sent novel five, which I can reveal will be called 5 Peppermint Grove, off to the editors but there is not much time before I have to settle down to book six! I am considering revisiting some old characters from my previous novels and I would love suggestions from readers about who you would like to see again…please message me if you have any favourites.

Why I love research!

I have been working hard to reach my deadline for the new book and having lots of fun on the way with the plot and the characters. Australia is a fascinating country and I had such a wonderful time with so many new and old friends.

It is going to be a busy summer with the paperback of 4am in Las Vegas book out in June in Ireland, ‘One Kiss in Havana’ will be out in July in Portugal and August in Germany. I hope that spreads plenty of fun filled holiday reading around the pools and beaches of Europe to help us all escape the doom and gloom!

Sunny Perth and a New Cover

I am not long back from Sunny Australia where I spent two wonderful weeks researching all that Perth has to offer. This time the entire family came with me and we had lots of hospitable friends to visit. It is sad that so many Irish people are leaving Ireland for a variety of reasons and it is the topic of emigration that has caught my interest and will be the theme for novel number five. After much debate with my publisher we have come up with the title for the book and I am delighted to reveal that it will be called ’5 Peppermint Grove’. My publisher Paula is working on a lovely cover for it and I will post as soon as it is finalised.

It’s time to think about Summer releases and paperbacks and the new cover of ’4am in Las Vegas’ is a total new look for my books. I’d love to know your thoughts on this new style so please do comment or send me a message on facebook – link posted on sidebar!

Back to work for me now, I have thirty thousand words to write and a deadline looming but I hope that you will enjoy my trip to Australia as much as I did.

I hope that 2012 has got off to a great start for everyone. I’m very excited about my impending trip to Perth in Western Australia and the novel that will be written after I have put in all of the research. I cannot confirm the title yet but will post as soon as I have the thumbs up from my publisher. I will be posting photos of the trip on my return so watch this space…

Twee Dagen in Biarritz

It’s official publication day for the Dutch translation of Two Days in Biarritz . I hope that all the Dutch and Belgian readers enjoy it. Meanwhile I am busily preparing for my next trip which will be to Western Australia. This will also be the setting for novel number five. It was a long time coming but the right destination is in place and the story is flowing so I hope to see it hit the shelves in October 2012. Book five doesn’t have a title yet but I hope to be suitably inspired when I touch down in Perth!

I hope that 2012 has started off well and that you have found some good books to read. I am currently enjoying Colleen Mc Cullough’s novel The Touch and getting in an Aussie frame of mind

New Covers and Review in Irish Independent.

This week sees the publication of my book ‘One Kiss in Havana’ into Norwegian.My publisher Cappelen Damm has given the book a lovely sunny cover.

German readers will have to wait until August 2012 for the German version from Goldman publishers but here is a sneak preview of the cover.

Many thanks for all the good wishes and emails. Especially to the first time readers of my books who have found me through 4am in Las Vegas!

I was thrilled with the review in The Irish Independent click here which reveals that ’4am in Las Vegas’ is a darker book with plenty of surprises! I like to reflect what I see going on around me and each book is a snapshot of the year that it was written and the general psyche of my Irish characters.

I am having a lot of fun researching novel five at the moment and really getting to know my home town so the working title I can reveal is ‘Five O’clock in Dublin’.

I’m in very good company with the lovely Paul Howard in this months edition of Suburbiamagazine. Click on the magazine if you would like to learn how the beauty of the Grand Canyon inspired me.

A little bird told me that there are more reviews to come before the month is out so watch this space.

I hope that you are enjoying the final days of Autumn – it really is my favourite time of year. The colours are spectacular along the east coast and brings many of the great Irish writers to mind – especially Patrick Kavanagh! I have been reading and researching diligently for book five which I am happy to announce will be entitled ‘Five O’Clock in Dublin’. I am having the loveliest time exploring my hometown and seeing it in a new light with the inspiration of James Joyce and his fellow authors.

I look forward to revealing more soon….

Book Launch

My new book ’4am in Las Vegas’ was launched on October 11th by TV3 presenter Aidan Cooney in Hughes Bookshop in Stephen’s Green Centre, Dublin. We had a marvellous evening with some lovely readers, fellow authors and friends. The bubbles flowed and the events were kicked off by Edward Smith of Suburbia Magazine who has very kindly highlighted an interview of ’4am in Las Vegas’ in the new edition of his magazine.

We continued the festivities in Residence Club on Stephen’s Green and some of the revellers were seen partying with the Irish football Team at Lillies until the small hours. I however was keen to get my fab new Terry de Havilland yummy shoes home in one piece!

But it’s back to reality now and the next book so I am reading and writing and the inspiration is flowing for book five…watch this space!!
